Worried that you’ll get stranded in a foreign country because you lost your important travel documents? Here’s my favorite tip to avoid that predicament:
Step 1. Before you leave, scan the front and back of every item in your wallet – as well as your passport.
Step 2. Email the images to your self. (Make sure you know or have your email passwords available in case you can’t access your phone or computer.)
Step. 3. Now you’ll have a digital copy of all your important information in case you lose something. This won’t substitute for your passport, ID or credit card, but you’ll have all the pertinent information you need to keep going or help you get home!
Great idea, but much better to save them as documents…..in case of no internet availability, in which case your emailed photo of your document is useless. This saved me on a recent trip to Easter Island when my passport was stolen. No ID, which meant no flight, and spotty internet at best. Lucky for me, they honored the scanned document saved as a note in my phone.
