I’m notorious for getting to my travel destination and realizing that I packed five pair of pants and only three shirts. And one of the three shirts doesn’t even match! And I discovered the secret that solves this problem; Make a list!
Here are three simple steps to make sure you arrive with all of the clothing you intended to take:
Step 1
Mentally plan what you’ll wear each day—including your travel days. Don’t forget the accessories—belts, scarves, shoes and socks.
Step 2
Lay out these items and then pack in outfits, specifically.
Step 3
Make a list. Write down each and ever item you need to pack and pack it in your suitcase, too.
Step 4
Once you’re back home and unpack, leave one important item in your empty suitcase: The list! You’ll be miles ahead for your next trip.

Even easier…..pack all the same color! I got the idea planning a trip to Paris. The guide book said “Make it black, make it tight, and accessorize! You’ll fit right in!” So now it is always black pants, shirts, sox, shoes, in a variety of styles and weights, with any and all colors of scarves, vests, etc. Can pack for a long time with a few things this way. Shorts, capris, slacks, skirts, tees, polos, blouses. And no “extra” clothes when the other part of an outfit gets dirty!
